Underfloor heating

The ground floor and garage will be heated with hydronic underfloor heating. Pex pipe is laid across the floor and will be set into the concrete floor. Hot water is then pumped around the pipes to warm the concrete mass and maintain a constant temperature. For the upstairs we will pipe the hot water to hydronic baseboard heaters that will radiate heat into each room. We are trying to stay away from forced air heating as we have found it to be quite dry and dusty. Not sure what we will do for cooling yet though. We might install ductless mini-splits that utilise a heat pump, but we might just wait and see how warm it gets in the Summer first. The high level of insulation and the ERV (Energy Recovery Ventilation) system might be enough to remove humidity and keep the house cool.
