Clearing some dead trees

We don't have a permit yet to chop trees down, we need to submit a basic plan of where the house is going to go first. However, I was itching to make a start on something when we visited in May so I had a go at a fallen tree at the front of the plot. It is hard work wielding a chainsaw for any period of time, although quite rewarding. The easy way to clear trees is to get the excavator to dig out the roots and push them over with his JCB. That sounds like cheating to me! I'm sure I will change my mind after felling a few more of them though, even if wood chopping is in my genes.
